I started writing as a paid journalist in 1985, while still in college. First, there was my hometown newspaper, the Jonesborough Herald and Tribune. Later, I worked for the Maryville Daily Times and the Knoxville Journal, which also was my first full-time job after college. I moved to Atlanta to work for United Press International, and after it went bankrupt, I was fortunate to land at the Fulton County Daily Report, part of the American Lawyer Media chain. Here are examples of the kind of work I did.
